One year after her mother’s murder, high school student Sidney Prescott finds herself at the center of a new wave of violence in the quiet California town of Woodsboro. A masked killer begins targeting local teenagers, taunting them by telephone with questions about horror movies before striking. As police and reporters descend on the community, Sidney and her friends struggle to determine who can be trusted. The killer seems to know their secrets—and the familiar rules of slasher movies.
