Astronaut Brent arrives on a mysterious world while searching for the missing Taylor, only to discover a civilization ruled by intelligent apes. With help from sympathetic chimpanzees, he journeys into the Forbidden Zone, where the ruins of human civilization conceal an unsettling secret. As tensions between the ape army and an isolated underground society escalate, Brent finds himself caught in a conflict that could determine the fate of the entire planet.
