In this absurdist horror comedy from Quentin Dupieux, a discarded tire named Robert inexplicably comes to life in the California desert. As it discovers its telekinetic powers, it begins a series of deadly encounters, observed by a group of spectators who treat the bizarre events as a movie unfolding before them. Blurring the line between reality and fiction, Rubber offers a self-aware look at violence, voyeurism, and the meaning of “no reason.” The film premiered at Cannes in 2010.
