In this 1967 British science fiction horror film, construction workers extending a London Underground line unearth ancient human remains and a mysterious metallic object. Believed at first to be an unexploded bomb, the discovery soon draws the attention of scientist Bernard Quatermass and a military team. As further excavation reveals insect-like alien remains and triggers strange occurrences, Quatermass suspects a link between the object and centuries of reported hauntings in the area. Tensions rise between the scientific team and military authorities as the evidence begins to point to a far-reaching and disturbing origin for both the artifact and humanity itself. Set in a gritty urban landscape, the story unfolds with steadily mounting unease, blending supernatural folklore with speculative science to explore the boundaries of evolution and memory.
