“Mars Needs Women” is a low-budget science fiction film centered around a group of Martians on a desperate mission to save their species. After Earth receives a mysterious message from space, a team of five male Martians arrives with a plan to recruit human females to help remedy a genetic crisis that threatens the future of their planet. Disguised as ordinary Earth men, the visitors attempt to blend in while searching for candidates that include a scientist, a stewardess, and others from various walks of life. However, their operation draws the attention of the military, leading to a tense standoff between the alien visitors and Earth authorities. While the film’s premise borders on the absurd, it offers an offbeat glimpse into 1960s sci-fi television filmmaking, anchored by a performance from Tommy Kirk and a memorable turn by Yvonne Craig.
