Also known as “Hexen.”In early 18th-century Austria, a young apprentice to a respected witch hunter arrives in a remote Alpine village plagued by fear and brutal accusations of witchcraft. As innocent townspeople are subjected to torture and execution by corrupt officials seeking power and wealth, he begins to question the methods and motives behind the trials. Featuring graphic violence and controversial subject matter, the film became notorious for its marketing campaign and later gained notoriety during the UK “video nasty” era.
